Laser Cleaning Services

Grease & Oil Removal

Degrease machinery, molds, tooling and equipment down to bare metal without solvents, steam or disassembly.

Grease and oil that has baked onto machinery becomes a hard carbon layer that solvents cannot cut and steam cleaning only spreads around. Laser cleaning removes that layer directly. The beam vaporizes the contamination, the extractor captures it, and the metal underneath is left clean, dry and dimensionally unchanged. It is the method of choice for molds, tooling and precision parts where blasting is not an option.

Gulf South Laser provides mobile grease and oil removal to shops, plants, fleets and marine operators across Metairie, New Orleans and the surrounding parishes.

  • Oil residue on machine beds and frames
  • Release agent and resin buildup on molds and dies
  • Cutting fluid and swarf residue on tooling
  • Grease on chains, drives and bearings housings
  • Hydraulic oil and soot on equipment exteriors

Surfaces we work on

  • Engines, transmissions and drivelines
  • Injection molds, rubber molds and dies
  • Machine tools, fixtures and tooling
  • Conveyors, drives and process equipment
  • Generators, pumps and compressors
  • Heavy equipment and fleet vehicles

Why laser instead of blasting or chemicals

No solvents

No parts washer, no degreaser, no hazardous waste to haul off.

Equipment stays in place

Most work is done without disassembly, which cuts downtime.

No dimensional change

Molds, dies and machined surfaces are cleaned without abrasion, so tolerances and polish are preserved.

Ready to run

The surface is dry when we finish. There is no drying time before the equipment goes back into service.

How a job works

  1. Review the equipment, the contamination and any surfaces that must be protected.
  2. A test spot to confirm the setting on your material.
  3. Cleaning with extraction running, usually in place.
  4. The equipment is ready to inspect, lubricate or return to service.

Grease & Oil Removal: frequently asked questions

Can laser cleaning remove grease from an engine?

Yes. Laser cleaning removes baked-on grease and carbon from engine blocks, housings and drivelines without solvents or pressure washing. Electrical and sensitive components are masked or avoided during the work.

Will it damage molds or polished tooling?

A pulsed laser removes the contamination without abrading the steel, which is why it is used for mold maintenance. We confirm the setting with a test spot on a non-critical area first.

Does the equipment need to be taken apart?

Usually not. The laser is handheld and reaches most surfaces in place. If an area cannot be reached safely, we will tell you.

What happens to the grease that is removed?

It is vaporized and captured by the fume extraction unit. There is no sludge, no runoff and no solvent waste.

Can you come to our plant?

Yes. Our mobile unit serves plants, shops and yards across the New Orleans metro area and the Gulf South.
